USS STOCKDALE (DDG-106)

In 2008, the U.S. Navy will be commissioning the USS Stockdale (DDG-106). This ship is the namesake of VADM J.B. Stockdale who our Unit is named in honor of. Our unit is planning to attend this ceremony.

Historical and Fictional References to the USS Stockdale

The first Stockdale was a steamer purchased in 1863. She served as a tinclad in the American Civil War and was decommissioned in 1865.
The second Stockdale was a destroyer escort commissioned in 1943 and decommissioned in 1946.
A frigate named USS Stockdale (FFG-62) has appeared as a location in the television show JAG in the episode Tiger Tiger. Her part was played by USS John A. Moore (FFG-19). The United States Navy has no frigate with the hull number FFG-62.
